Solana Beach Photography Sessions
Solana Beach is one of my favorite beaches for photography sessions in San Diego because of several factors. It's usually emptier than the average beach in San Diego, which helps during photo sessions, where we don't want too many people around.
Solana Beach has some very unique, large rocks during the low tide. It's a great addition to the scenery and helps when composing photos. Also, it's nice to have something besides sand and ocean when photographing at a beach. So, like most beaches, Solana works best for photography during a lower tide.
Aside from classic beach photos, we can also use the cliff for a background. The warm colors and typical vegetation make for another interesting location.
Meeting Point: I usually meet clients for Solana Beach photography sessions in front of Tower 10. You can find the exact location by typing "Solana Beach Tower 10" on Google or any navigation system. Or, you can click here.
Access: Solana Beach has easy access. It has a large parking lot that almost always has plenty of parking. It's a state beach lot, so it's not free. But you can always park south of the parking lot, in the neighborhood, where it's free. There's usually plenty of parking, and it's not a long walk to the beach.
Best Time: The sunset is usually the best time of the day to photograph at the beach here in California. So, I generally plan to end the sessions at sunset time. The time of the session might not be as crucial for other locations, but it's an important factor at the beach, where we don't have anything to filter the light, such as trees or buildings.
Pets: If you're planning on bringing your dog Solana Beach is a great place. It's 24 hours a day dog-friendly. Please notice that dogs must be leashed at all times in Solana Beach. Please click here if you would like to see my family photography portfolio. Also, click here for my mini-session page.
