One of my favorite aspects about my wedding photography job, is that I get to learn about other cultures. And, this Indian wedding was no different.
No matter how different Indian weddings are from each other, you can count on three things. They will be colorful, long, and fun. Abhjit and Karena came from New York for their destination wedding, but guests came from everywhere. They gathered in the beautiful island of Coronado to witness this special event.
The wedding happened at The Loews Coronado. I met with the couple for the getting ready, always an interesting part of all Indian weddings. We decided to have the first look at the hotel’s lobby, due to the fact the guests were starting to arrive. The groom and his friends were ready for the Baraat. It’s a traditional ceremony before the wedding ceremony, where the groom rides a horse. In my opinion, it‘s the best part of every Indian wedding I participate.
The traditional Indian ceremony was successful, and bride and groom were ready to party.
The wedding was put together by the amazing team of Nahid’s Global Events. They specialize in multicultural wedding design and coordination, and it’s always great to work with them. Once again, they blew everyone’s mind, with a gorgeous wedding reception.
It was an interesting party, to say the least. After a dazzling first dance, where Karena displayed another beautiful dress, it was time for some dance presentations. Abhjit‘s twin brother had a show planned, and it couldn’t have gone any better.
While the couple thanked their guests, traditional Indian food was served. Without too many of the western traditions, such as bouquet tossing and cake, the couple proceeded to dance with guests.
