Adam & Anna’s California Wedding Portraits

As a California wedding photographer, it is such a dream to have amazing venues around the area. Adam and Anna’s wedding took advantage of this fact. The ceremony was held at Monastery Beach. The reception followed at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Golf Course. It was a mix of everything I love about the California outdoors. That’s why I knew this was going to be a great day to shoot a celebration of love.

After a very fun engagement session with those two, where we hit some of my favorite spots in San Diego, and played some video games in their home, I couldn’t be more excited for their wedding.

The preparation was so laid back, there was no tension at all. They rented a beautiful house in the woods where they got ready. In the meantime, everybody else hung out and anticipated the exciting event.

The driveway was the perfect place for the couples’ first look. There were pine trees in the background, framing the couple’s poses perfectly.

When everybody was ready, we headed to Monastery Beach. The ceremony was private and intimate. The entire entourage walked across the aisle barefoot. This made the entire affair even more heartwarming and inspiring.

After the ceremony, we stayed around a bit for more photos. Any California wedding photographer would agree – the beach is an excellent backdrop for photos like these. It helped that Adam and Anna already knew me from their friends’ weddings. I also did their engagement photos. I have photographed some of the members of their bridal party in the past as well. The fact that they were all comfortable and were able to let loose made the photos even better.

Before driving to the golf course for the reception, the couple got some alone time. They strolled along the beach where I was able to capture fantastic shots.

The reception was amazingly unique. Adam loved Star Wars, so they had a cake designed to fit that theme. The tables were named after famous scientists. The black linen used on the tables also made the entire interior cool and sophisticated.

The date jar was a great addition to the décor. Basically, it allowed guests to share great date ideas the couple could consider. A lot of the engagement photos I took were also on display.

The night ended with a lot of dancing. They also had a fun photo booth where everybody got to wear unicorn heads, horse heads, and other quirky props.

This was definitely worth the drive. It’s one of those events that makes me remember why I became a California wedding photographer in the first place.
