Domenic & Melinda’s Engagement Photos

by | Apr 15, 2018

After canceling Domenic and Melinda’s engagement photos once due to bad weather, I was excited to finally meet with them for their shoot.

I met Melinda at a wedding a few years ago. She was one of the bridesmaids in Josh and Christina’s wedding. She even stopped by during their engagement session to lend a hand. Sometime later, it’s her time to get married. Last December, I had the opportunity to photograph their engagement party, and it was a very fun party.

To start their engagement photos, we met at one of their favorite coffee shops, Better Buzz, in Hillcrest. They grabbed a couple of coffees, and enjoyed their time together. It was actually a great idea, considering they had a long hike ahead of them.

We had decided to explore Solana Trails for a second location, and we scored. Amazing lighting, filtered by the big rustic trees, always make the long hike worth. I never think twice when I’m able to shoot some engagement photos at this place. Recent storms added to the character of the place, and I enjoyed shooting as Domenic helped Melinda through some trees that had fallen. It was a gorgeous sunset, and we watched it go down on the ocean.

It was time to get a little more dressed up and hit the lights of downtown. Ewe started with a walk around Little Italy, one of their favorite areas of San Diego. The change in the area brought a lot of new photo opportunities, and it was a good choice for their engagement photos.

We ended the day in the famous Gaslamp Quarter, where we used the cars for some unique, slow shutter images. I asked the couple to stand on the street, and we shot as the lit cars passed by. Since but was not my first time doing this specific shot, I knew just the perfect spot for it.
