For every family session I photograph, my first location suggestion is always the beach. It was no different for this La Jolla family photography session. The Davis family agreed it was a great choice, due to the background and colors we would have. We set the location on La Jolla shores, where we could also use the Scripps Pier. I was looking forward to meeting them in this late afternoon.
I knew we were going to deal with some high tides, and I was ready for that. We decided to start this La Jolla family photography session at the Scripps Seaside Forum. Aside from being a great location, we had to wait on the tide to finally get low enough. We walked around the building and, as a result, got something different than just beach. And, of course, the Davis’ agreed on the idea.
It was finally time to hit the beach, and the Scripps Pier. The kids got really excited, and that made it easier on me. Alternating the session with some playtime is the best way to make sure kids don’t burn out too soon. The warm water and the summer day, made it easy this time.
Although the tide was still quite high, the Pier part went well. The open shade it provides, with the water in the background, usually makes for my favorite photo on La Jolla family photography sessions.
I would like to thank the Davis family for such a great time. It’s an honor to have been there for this La Jolla family photography session. It was an honor and a pleasure to be a part of this afternoon.
